Abstract:Yb:YAG transparent ceramic nano -powders were prepared by chemical co -precipitation method, with ammonium bicarbonate as a precipitant and polyethylene glycol (PEG) 400 or polyoxyethylene octylphenyl ether (OP) as a surfactant. The morphology, thermal stability and phase structure of the prepared transparent ceramic nano -powders were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, TG-DTA, IR spectroscopy, and X-ray diffraction. The results show that adding a proper amount of the surfactant in the chemical reaction process can get fine uniform ceramic powders. The fluorescence spectra of samples doped with different concentrations of Yb also were investigated. The results indicate that the luminous property of the powders changes significantly with the doping concentration, and the luminous intensity reaches the maximum value when the doping concentration is 5%.
