Abstract:TiO2-ZnO composite oxide has been successfully synthesized by hydrothermal processing with titanium tetrachloride and zinc chloride as raw materials, then the traditional solid-phase synthesis was used to prepare zinc metatitanate (ZnTiO3) ceramic powder. The structure and morphology were characterized by means of XRD and SEM. The results show that hydrothermal method yields powders with small particle sizes and high reactivity. ZnTiO3 phase can be synthesized at 650℃.After heat treatment at 800℃, the resultants can be transformed into a pure hexagonal ZnTiO3 ilmenite phase, avoiding the generation of Zn2Ti3O8 phase.

Keywords:hydrothermal- solid-state phase method, zinc titanate, calcination, grain morphology
