Abstract: The paper, aflersynthesizing a lot of documents and textual rescarch, has reached a systematic condusion that Chinese poutery in the New Stone Age went through the stages of red pottery, grey pottery, black potlery and white pottery as far as matcrials are con- cerncd. As for techniue, it cxperienced hand forming, mould forming, slow jigger wheel forming and quick jigger wheel forming. In aspect of decoration, it went through the stages of buscuit pottery, colourcd poltery and non-colourcd pottery. About kilns, it cxperi cnced pilc fring, horizontal cave kiln, the same cave kiln and vertical cave kiln.
