The Acid/Alkali Resistance Research of α-Al2O3 Microfiltr Menbranes

Abstract:The α-Al2O3 microfiltration membranes with good bending strength and acid-resistance were prepared by a solidphase sintering method using 20μm α-Al2O3 powder as main raw material and titanium, light-burned magnesia powder and titanium sol as microfiltration membrane additives. The effects of the additives on the scheme of sintering and acid/base resistance were discussed. The results show that the microfiltration membrane of Al2O3-Ti sol system has the porosity of 26%, the bend strength of 50Mpa and good acid/alkali resistance, when cacined at 1450℃ with 5wt% titanium sol as a sintering aid. The microfiltration membrane of Al2O3-MgO-ZnO2 system has the porosity of 25%, the bend strength of 80Mpa and good acid/alkali resistance, when cacined at 1500℃ with 4wt% MgO and 1 wt% ZnO2 as sintering aids.
