Abstract: Effects of technological parameters, including temperature, holding time, rate of N2 flow, and ratio of C/Ti, to the preparation of Ti(C, N) by carbothermal reduction of TiO2 were investigated. Results show that N is more liable than C to compound with Ti, and the change of technological parameters can adjust the x value of Ti(Ci1-xNx). Aseries of Ti(Ci1-xNxpowderswith an x value ranged from 0.6 to 0.85 can be prepared at temperatures from 1400℃ to 1700℃.
