Functional Additives in ZnO Varistor Ceramics

Abstract: In this paper, effects of several transition metal oxides in controlling nonlinearity of ZnO varistor ceramics have been systematically studied by means of both one additive and several additives together, and experimental results have been analyzed on the basis of the stability of outer - shell electron structure of metal ions and defect quasi - chemical reaction. It is reasonably thought that oxide of tnnsition metal, its metal ion having nonsaturated outer - shell electron structure and radius being similar to zinc ion Zn2+, can improve nonlinearity of ZnO varistor ceramics.
