Abstract: From the viewpoint of fracture mechanicssome foundamental concepts concerning the crack problems for functionally gradient materials are discussed．The crack models for functionally gradient materials are summarized and reviewed systematically with the emphasis on the crack－tip stress field and stress intensity factors as well as their influential factors．Some suggestions on the development perspective of the crack problems research for functionally gradient materials are proposed also．
