Abstract: The mode Ⅰ crack problem for Functionally Gradient Ceramic Materials is investigated in this paper‚and the dimensionless stress intensity factors KI for functionally gradient ceramic materials with different compositional distributions under threepoint bending are calculated by using the extrapolation technique. The results reveal that KI increases with the increase of compositional distribution exponent n for a shorter crack length‚whereas KI decreases with the increase of n for a longer crack length.

Keywords: functionally gradient materials‚extrapolation technique‚finite element method‚stress intensity factor‚compositiona distribution
