Abstract:Effect of the electrolyte on the rheological behaviors and stability of alumina suspensions with mixed dispersants poly(acrylic acid) (PAA) and triammonium citrate (TAC) was investigated. The results showed that the addition of an electrolyte(like NaCl or CaCl2) dramatically destabilized aqueous Al2O3 suspensions until a certain concentration was reached. However, at the identical ionic strength, the yield stress of the suspension with a mixed dispersant was smaller, showing an effective anti-electrolytic capability.
