Abstract: An aminobenzene sulfonate-formaldehyde based polymer dispersant was synthesized under alkaline condition using aminobenzene sulfonate, phenol and formaldehyde as main raw materials. The as-prepared dispersant was applied in 99% alumina slip. The effects of monomer ratio, monomer content, crosslinker content, pH, reaction time and reaction temperature on the properties of the prepared dispersant were investigated. Results show that the synthetic dispersant is a high performance additive that has better ability for improving the fluidity of alumina slurry with high solid content than the traditional dispersant. The proper synthetic technical specifications are as follows: molar ratio of aminobenzene suHonate, phenol and formaldehyde is 1:2:6; concentration of aminobenzene sulfonate is 0.35mol/L;pH of the reaction system is 8.0; reaction temperature is 85-95℃ and reaction time is 4h.
