Abstract: B4C ceramics were prepared by hot-pressing with B4C powder and amorphous boron powder as main materials . The influence of the oxide - eliminating to the dens ity and mechanical properties of the samples were studied in this paper. Thephase and micros tructure of the samples were also analyzed by XRD and SEM.The results showed that the content of the B2O3 descend from 3.25wt% to 0.84wt% after oxide - eliminated. The values of the hardness , fracture toughness , flexural s trength and elastic modulus reached 34.2GPa, 3.91Mpa·m1/2,576.5MPa and 420.3GPa respectively when the addtion of the boron reached 11.6wt% . Compared with oxide - uneliminated B4C sample, the increment is 119.9% , 48.9% and 28.9% respectively.
