Abstracts: Aluminum ceramics was succes s fully prepared with was te aluminum slag,small amount of clay, talc and barium carbonate as raw materials.The influence of different amount of flux on the properties and micros tructures were discus sed. X- ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) were used to characterize the crys talline phases and micros tructures.The properties such as porosity, water absorption and bulk dens ity were tes ted. The results show that bes ides target corundum phase, there are mullite, Mg- Al spinel and hyalophane phase .The best content for talc is 3.5wt%, for barium carbonate is 5.5wt%.The corresponding properties are water absorption:0.21%,porosity:0.67%, bulk dens ity: 3.18 g/cm3.
