Study on the Fabrication of Ti3SiC2 by Hot Pressing

Abstract：Pure Ti3SiC2bulk materials were synthesized by hot pressing from the powder mixture of TiC／Si／Al／Ti．X－ray diffrac- tion‚scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive spectrometer were used for phase identification and microscopic evalu- ation．The results showed：the presence of the main phase in the product is98．2％ at 1400℃．The lattice parameters of the sample were measured to be a＝0．3069nm‚c＝1．767nm．The prepared Ti3SiC2was in plane－shape with the size of 4～ 10μm．The obtained material was readily machinable as graphite．
