Abstract: Pyrrole based polyelectrolytes humidity sensors were prepared by graft and oxidation polymerization. The effect of types of carboxylic salt on the humidity sensitive properties and humidity sensitive mechanisms of sensors have been investigated. The results indicated that the sensors possess ionic and electronic conduction simultaneously and fast response (adsorption time of 12.5s, desorption time 15.2s). Furthermore, the sensors maintained high conductivity even at very dry atmosphere, are promising to detect low humidity.

Key words: pyrrole, polyelectrolyte, humidity sensitivity, humidity sensor
