Abstract: One of the key technologies in research and development of large - sized super - thin ceramic tile is to improve  the mechanical strength and sintered properties of its body. In this study, a body batch recipe was prepared using kaolinite  feldspar and quartz with added lower melting temperature lithium chinas tone, which effectively satis fied the demands for  reduced firing shrinkage, widened firing range and lowered firing temperature. After adjus tments to its compos ition and   the firing system, a basic body recipe for mass production of large - sized super- thin ceramic tile was obtained. Furthermore, the flexural strength of the fired body was increased from 60MPa to 140MPa with the addition 30wt% of α- Al2O3       powder.

Keywords: super- thin architectural ceramic tile, mechanical strength, chinas tone, α- Al2O3 powder
