Abstract: The maturity of the washing technique for blue and white porcelain painting, one of the most important decorative forms on Jingdezhen porcelain, has been gradually achieved. The evolution of this technique has constantly enhanced the artistic results of the decoration. This paper gives a systematic account of its development with a view to help with the dating of antique Jingdezhen blue and white porcelain wares.
