Abstract: SrZr4(PO4)6 micro-powders were prepared by low temperature combustion synthesis(LCS), in which nitrates were used as oxidizers while urea was used as fuels and NH4NO3 as an combustion additive. The influences of various ignition temperatures , various water content and fuel content, on the synthesis were examined. Researches were done on the synthesized product by X- ray and infrared absorption spectrum phase analysis , and the microstructure was also observed with the help of TEM. It is found that higher ignition temperature leads to a bigger particle size and less amount of amorphous phase in the product powders and LCS can produce crystalline micro- powders rapidly. The synthesized powders can be sorted into two groups by size: larger particles with smooth surface and amorphous phase or with serrated outline and polycrys talline phase and scattered nano- sized particles .
