Abstract: Foam ceramics were prepared by impregnating polyurethane sponge with ceramic slurry. The effects of different technical factors on properties of foam ceramics were studied. In the study, the slurry loading on the template is better after treatment in 50% acid or 2mol/L alkali solution. The best slurry can be obtained by adding 0.05 ~0.25% trimeric sodium phosphate and a small amount of surfactant. The sintering temperature has dropped to 1260℃ with the addition of 7~8%m wollastonite. The foam ceramics thus obtained are capable of easy processing and high filtration. Its open porosity is greater than 80% and its volume density is 0.3~0.7g/cm3.
