The Digitization of Structural Characteristics of Bowls

Abstract:Due to historical reasons, shapes of bowls from Hutian kiln in Jingdezhen gradually changed with the development of science and technology. In this paper, structural parameters of Hutian bowls from different periods were extracted through digitalized quantitative analysis to resolve the previous descriptive simplicity and vagueness of the shapes. The digital method and its advantage were introduced. It provides an auxiliary approach to period division which forms a new scientific basis for the identification of ancient ceramics.
