Abstract:Ceramic color samples were measured using measurement instruments with the 0º/45º geometric structure and the d/8° integrating sphere. The effects of the geometric structure of a color measuring instrument on ceramic color measurement were then studied by comparing the color data, including the values of L*, a*, b*, C* ab , and DE*ab . The results indicated that the gap between the measured values by instruments with 0º/45º geometric structure and d/8° integrating sphere (under SPIN condition) is not stable, which has a close relationship with the measured color’s brightness and saturation; but it (under SPEX condition) is more stable, the average DL* value is 2.48, the average Da* value is 0.63, the average Db* value is 0.59, and the average DE*ab value is 2.69. Various geometric structure of color measurement instrument has its own characteristics and advantages, and the data must be different with the instrument structure, but there is some correlation between the data.
