Abstract: In this paper, the chemical elements of the greenish white porcelain samples from Jizhou Kiln were tested by the energy dispersiveX-ray fluorescence. The results were then put to the hierarchical cluster analysis. The research shows that the body formula of Jizhou wareis complicated, composed not only of sedimentary clay but also of china stone. The traditional view that the greenish white porcelain fromJizhou Kiln used only secondary sedimentary clay in body making is corrected by this conclusion. Moreover, the glaze was prepared usingsedimentary clay or china stone accordingly, with added ashes from herbal or woody plants, which resulted in the presence of calcium glaze,calcium-alkali-glaze and alkali-calcium-glaze on greenish white porcelain.
