Development of Crackled Plum Green Glazes

Abstract: Green transparent crackled plum green glazes were prepared in a shuttle kiln at 1310 ℃ with reducing atmosphere using high iron content mineral raw materials as iron sources. Glaze stone, glaze ash, quartz and calcined kaolin were selected as single factors in the single factor tests and their influence on gloss, bubble, pinhole, crackle, appearance and colorimetric values of as-prepared plum green glazes was discussed. In the light of single factor tests, orthogonal tests were carried out to optimize the formula of crackled plum glazes and the optimum

recipe was formulated.
