Abstract: Brushing method was used to prepare borosilicate glass/phosphate coating on C/SiC brake materials for oxidation protection.Oxidation protection and thermal shock resistance properties of borosilicate glass/phosphate coating were analyzed. The results indicated that uniform and dense coating of borosilicate glass/phosphate can closely adhere on the composite substrates. After oxidation at 700 °C in dry air condition for 10 h, weight loss ratio of the coating sample was 0.39%, While, it was 0.22% and 0.13% of samples with immersion fresh water and sea water, respectively. Therefore, borosilicate glass/phosphate coating possesses exellent oxidation protection property, as well as fresh water and sea water corrosion resistance properties. After thermal shock for 50 times, the adhesion bettween the coating and the composite substrates was still good, and the phenomenon of crumbling and sloughing was not observed, meanwhile, the weight loss ratio of the coating
sample was merely 0.015%. The coating showed exellent thermal shock resistance properties.
