Abstract: Solid oxide full cell (SOFC) can convert full chemical energy into electricity with high energy conversion efficiency, no pollution and diversified fuels, etc. SOFC can work by feeding hydrocarbon fuel directly into the anode of fuel cells. Due to its simple structure, needing no complex reforming equipment, and higher fuel conversion efficiency, it called the attention of researchers. The testing technique of a solid oxide fuel cell is an important means to characterize it. The test of the electrochemical properties of SOFC button battery using hydrocarbons as fuels is more complicated because the testing process will encounter problems including anode reduction and heavy oxidation, anode carbon deposition failure, cell electrolyte cracking in the sinter process due to large stress, and so on. This paper aims to settle the problems in the performance test of SOFC button battery using hydrocarbon fuels as reducing agents. The research results can provide a guidance and reference for concerned researchers and the level of SOFC testing technology.
