Abstract: Shapes are important clues for the identification of ancient ceramics. In this study, using the data extraction, data statistics, etc, the sample shape structure characteristics of Jingdezhen prunus vases from Song dynasty to Yuan, Ming and Qing are analyzed and discussed. The differentiating features of different periods have been obtained. Four groups of Fisher discriminant functions have been derived and their credibility and accuracy are proved to provide the foundation for further comprehensive understanding of prunus vases and also to enrich their shape database.
