Abstract: Ancient ceramics is the embodiment of Chinese traditional culture and an important carrier of art, which is an indispensable link that also gets the world to know China's traditional culture. With the growing of computer technology, digital image processing has gradually developed into a branch of great advantage which cannot be ignored in the field of nondestructive testing. This paper uses OpenCV (Open Source Computer Vision Library) platform, multiple related morphological operations in image processing for debugging, and the improved edge detection operator IMP - Canny to detect cracks in ancient ceramics. The feasibility and effectiveness of IMP - Canny operator are proved in the experiment verification. The study provides a new research idea and method for ancient ceramic crack detection.

Key words: nondestructive testing; image processing; IMP-Canny operator; ancient ceramic crack detection
