Abstract: The La2LaTa7 powders was synthesized successfully by solid state reaction method using La2O3 and Ta2O5 as reactants. The phasestructure,micromophology and element composition were analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD), electronic scanning microscope (SEM) and EDS patterns, respectively. Its average particle-size and specific surface area were investigated by laser particle-size analyzer and surface area analyzer, respectively. Its photocatalytic activity was evaluated by the degradation of of methylene blue under simulated solar irradiation over La2LaTaO7 powders. Results show that the pure La2LaTaO7 powder with single webrite structure was synthesized successfully, and the synthesized powder has a certain some agglomeration. Its average particle-size and specific surface area are 24 μm and 0.463 m2/g,respectively. After irradiation for 150 min, the photocatalytic degradation-rate of methylene blue under simulated solar irradiation over La2LaTaO7 powder is about 68 %, which may b attributed to its little specific surface area.
