Abstract: The (Y1-xLax)2O3 submicron powders were prepared by the citrate method using Y(NO3)3•6H2O, La(NO3)3•6H2O, citric acid, ethanediol and deionized water as the raw materials, and the phase and morphology of the powders under different calcination temperature were discussed. The results showed that the addition of La2O3 can refine the powders of (Y1-xLax)2O3 , and the particles gradually become small with the increase of the solute content of La2O3 in (Y1-xLax)2O3 . The value of the solid solubility decreased with the increase of the calcination temperature, and the solid solubility was 0.3-0.4 and 0.2 as the calcination temperature was 1000 ℃ and 1400 ℃, respectively. The excessive La2O3 addition led to the emergence of the second phase of LaYO3, which resulted in the abnormal powder particles growing up and the liquid phase at 1300 ℃. When the x value was between 0.1 and 0.2, the (Y1-xLax)2O3 submicron powders with diameter of 50-100 nm were acquired as the calcination temperature was 1100 ℃.
