Abstract: Hydraulic fracturing technology and fracturing proppants have been widely used in the exploitation of oil and gas fields, especially for low permeable oil and gas reservoirs at the middle and late stages. The technology is one of the important measures which can increase production rate and water injection rate. The technical index and synthesis technology of fracturing proppants have direct effect on the performance, cost and environment of hydraulic fracturing. This paper reviews the developments of fracturing proppants in recent years in sintering additives, low density proppants, the proppants synthesized with industrial waste materials and functional proppants, and predicts their future trends. It has great realistic significance to the exploitation of oil and gas resources and the development of related industries.
Key words: fracturing proppant; hydraulic fracturing; sintering additives; low density; breakage ratio
