Abstract:The silicon /silicon carbide ceramic materials with different microstructures were fabricated by changing the weight ratio of SiC to C in green bodies and reaction-bonded sintering. The relationships between bending strenath and microstructures were evaluated by three-point bending method, and the effect of microstructure on the strength -controlling factors was analyzed and discussed.The study results indicated that the phases volume fractions, silicon carbide distribution morphology. thermal mismatch,and microstructure uniformity were the main strength -controlling factors,and optimizing the preparation technology parameters was the key to getting high performance materials.
