Abstract:Float glass melted at very high temperature, and its melting and clarification occupied about 60% of the total energy. In this paper, the influence of the addition of the oxidation bismuth on the properties of float glass melt, melting temperature, and the structure of glass were studied for the purpose to reduce the float glass melting point. The results show that the basic structure was not changed with the addition of the bismuth oxide from 0.5% to 2%. The viscosity of the glass melt decreased with the addition of bismuth oxide obviously; when the viscosity of the glass melt was 1.35 Pa.s, the melting temperature of sample A5 was reduced about 30 ℃from that of sample A,.

Key words:Bi203; float glass melt; viscosity
