Effects of Fins on Combustion and Thermal Behavior of Methane/ Air in Micro-channel

Abstract:A numerical study on methane/air combustion inside a micro--channel with fins was undertaken to investigate the effects of fins on combustion and thermal characteristics. The simulation results show that the axial fins have a strong influence on the combustion and heat transfer inside the micro-combustor. Compared with the channel without fins, the temperature distribution in the channel with fins is more uniform. And the temperature distribution of the channel with three low fins is more uniform than that with one high fin. The height of a radial fin is a key parameter that affects the combustion characteristics.
