Mutual Advancement, Pursuit of Transformation and Conformity—Aesthetic Connotation of Flower Glazed Murals Produced at High Temperature in Cizhou Kiln

Abstract: In terms of the flower glazed murals produced at high temperature in Cizhou Kiln, it is considered as one of the expression forms of ceramic murals. Due to its advantages of thick glaze, bright color and strong expressiveness, it has been used as an ideal decorative material for indoor and outdoor murals. Moreover, it is widely used in many urban architectural spaces, which presents its unique charm accordingly. This article is mainly aimed to elaborates and discusses the aesthetic connotations of flower glazed murals produced at high temperature in Cizhou Kiln from three perspectives, i.e., space field environment, sense of form and cultural view. On such basis, it also further demonstrated that the space environment view is hereby established among the architectural space, the identity of environmental site and the murals and the form view for pursuit of transformation is manifested by the noumenon language and external manifestation of the glazed murals. The view of aesthetics and culture is manifested by the affinity of mural language, the narrative representation of graphic content and the humanistic care of connotation expression. In this regard, the three perspectives are able to influence and permeate with one another, while they have their own highlights. They not only reflect the functional values of the mural arts, but also show the unique material beauty manifested in the flower glazed mural language. Finally, they consist the aesthetic connotation of the flower glazed murals produced at high temperature in Cizhou.
