Abstract: The underglaze red colour is a famous traditional high temperature underglaze copper red colour in china, it is highly sensitive to firing atmosphere and the chemical composition of pigments.In this paper, it was studied that the relationship among colouration and fluidity of pigments, the diluent and the chemical composition of glazes for underglaze red colour fired in LPG-firing kiln.Underglaze red colour glazes made in various technigue were evaluated by meams of determining the colourness, the range of fusing temperature and the microstructure.The chemical compositions of pigment and glaze which fit to imitate underglaze red glagzs with pattern of whole body in end period of Yuan dynasty and Qing dynasty are obtained.
