Abstract: Based on sol- gel technology, nano Al2O3 powders with different particle characteris tics were prepared us ing the hydrous alumina as raw materials after heat treatment, which was synthes ized by aluminium alkoxides . The heat treatment conditions were arranged by orthogonal design with a L9 ( 34)array. The effect of the heat treatment technology on the particle characteris tics of nano Al2O3 powders was ananlyzed. The heat treatmen technology was optimized. The experimental results show that the digres s ive order of the influence of heat treatment conditions on the average s ize and pattern is the calcination temperature,the holding time at the calcination temperature and the holding time at 300℃. By controlling heat treatment conditions, spherical γ- Al2O3powder was fabricated with des ired size, morphology and good dispers ion. For obtaining 8 nm spherical γ- Al2O3 powder, the optimal calcination temperature is 900℃, soaking 4 hours at that temperature without soaking anytime at 300℃.
