Abstract: As a high- enenrgy and high- efficiency technique, the electromagnetic forming technology has inapproachable advantages over the conventional forming techniques in near- net- shape forming of powder materials , and it can play an important role in the functional ceramic industry. The basic theory of electromagnetic forming and electromagnetic powder compacting are expounded and the application and prospect of the electromagnetic forming technology in the functional ceramic industry are described.
