Abstract:LiTaO3 piezoelectric ceramic was prepared by hot pressing in nitrogen atmosphere. Effects of different sintering methods such as pressureless sintering and hot press sintering on relative density and mechanical properties of the Al2O3/ LiTaO3 (ALT) composite ceramics and pure LiTaO3 piezoelectric ceramic were investigated to obtain a preferable sintering process. LiTaO3 matrix piezoelectric ceramic can't be obtained by pressureless sintering. Relative density of pure LiTaO3 piezoelectric ceramic is only 91.5% when sintered by hot pressing at 1300°C under 25MPa. Relative density of pure LiTaO3 piezoelectric ceramic has reached 97% when sintered by hot pressing at 1300° C under 35MPa and fewer pores are observed in ceramic, but mechanical properties of pure LiTaO3 piezoelectric ceramic have not changed.

Keywords:LiTaO3, piezoelectric ceramic, relative density, mechanical property
