Abstract:Pure phase dysprosium aluminum garnet (DAG) powder synthesized with Dy2O3 Al (NO3)3·9H2O and HNO3 as the raw materials and citric acid as the chelating agent by the sol-gel method was characterized by XRD and SEM. The results indicated that the pure -phase DAG powder was obtained at 900 ℃ with a dwell time of 2 hours, and the complete crystallization temperature was 1200℃. On the basis of the Scherrer formula, the average grain size for the powder calcined at different temperatures was calculated to be about 30-50nm. Comparing the influence of the holding time and the calcined temperature on the DAG grain size, it was found that the holding time played a more important role than the calcined temperature on the grain size before the complete crystallization, while, when complete crystallization finished, the influence of the former on the grain size was more than the latter.
