Abstract:ZnS powders were synthesized by hydrothermal, solid phase and precipitation methods. Through XRD analysis, among the three processes, ZnS powders synthesized by hydrothermal method had more suitable morphological features to be coated by SiO2, forming composite core-shell structure. Core-shell structure was prepared by sol-gel method, and with different quantity of TEOS (ethyl orthosilicate), three univariate experiments had been designed. Via XRD, SEM analysis, the test results show that: core -shell structure is obtained after ZnS is coated by SiO2, and this complex structure not only blocks defect and oxidation, but also improves dispersion, thermal stability and photoluminescence properties. By changing the quantity of TEOS employed in the reaction, the thickness of the shell is easily controlled.

Keywords:zinc sulfide, core-shell structure, silica
