Abstract: Zircon- Vanadium blue pigment is a very stable pigment of ceramic glaze at higher temperature. It has a Zircon crystal structure. The color development mechanism of turquoise pigmentwas studied by XRD,XPS and spectrophotometer. The results show that vanadiumdoped in lattice of zircon substitutes V4+ for Zr4+,leading distortion of〔ZrO6〕octahedral symmetry. Hence the pigment has a broad reflection peak in the range of visible reflection spectrum, its wavelength is 475nm.Finally,the color develops blue.
