Abstract:The SiC-kaolinite composite ceramic was prepared by using SiC, kaolinite and Suzhou clay as raw material. The sintered samples were measured by XRD, SEM and EPMA. The bending strength and thermal conductivity of the sintered samples were also characterized. The SiC composite ceramic with good properties can be obtained when sintered at 1400℃ for 2 h, and the main phases of the SiC composite ceramic are SiC, mullite, α-Al2O3 and cristobalite. The bending strength and thermal conductivity of the samples are 65.5 MPa and 8.9W/(m·K) respectively. The sample is characterized by excellent thermal shock resistance and the composite ceramic has promising potential application in solar energy storage.
