Preparation of O/W Emulsion by Ceramic Membrane Emulsification

Abstract:Membrane emulsification was considered as a simple and efficient method to obtain a high quality emulsion which was stable mono -dispersed. The O/W emulsion was prepared with α -Al2O3 ceramic microfiltration membrane as emulsification medium, and soybean oil as dispersed phase, as well as deionized water containing dissolving emulsifier as continuous phase. The emulsification effect of membrane emulsification method was compared with mechanical stirring method. The influences of difference of emulsifier concentration, membrane pressure and magnetic stirring speed on the emulsification effect were studied. Results showed that the difference of emulsifier concentration of 2%, membrane pressure of 0.12MPa, stirring speed of 450r/min were the optimal emulsification conditions.
