Abstract:In this paper, nanometer ZnO powders were prepared by hydrothermal synthesis using PEG as a soft template. The effect of [Zn2 + ]/[OH - ] molar concentration ratio and PEG with different molecular weight on the ZnO morphology were investigated. XRD and SEM were used to characterize nanometer ZnO powders. The results showed that: ZnO nanostructures including nanorods and nanospheres were synthesized by changing [Zn2+] / [OH-] ratio. When the [Zn2+] /[OH-] molar concentration ratio is 2, ZnO nanorods with the length of 20μm and the diameter of about 3μm were obtained.PEG inhibited the polarized growth of zinc oxide, which resulted in ZnO morphology changing from the nanorods to nanoshperes. With the increasing of PEG molecular weight, the size of the obtained ZnO nanospheres decreased. When PEG molecular weight is 10000, the particle size of the obtained ZnO nanospheres is about 80 nm.
