Abstract: In this paper, some Longquanwu white porcelain and black porcelain shards were studied. Their composition characteristics of the body are high in Al2O3(32.2~38.5%) and Na2O(l.2~4.2%) contents and low of SiO2content (52. 9~55. 5%). Their chemical compositions of the body are different from those of northern famous ancient porcelain. Their compositions of the glaze are different: one sample is alk - Ca - glaze, three samples are Ca - alk - glaze and two samples are Ca - glaze. A thin layer of the hematite crystallite was formed on the surface of a black glaze because the sample was fired at the strong oxidizing atmosphere. So the appearance of the sample appears in dark reddish brown color. The firing temperature of the fine white porcelain sample is about 1240℃.
