Structure of Laser Cladding AL2O3, Ceramic Coatings on W18Cr4V Steel

Abstract :The structure, characteristics of composition distribution and interface structure of AL2O3/NiCrAl composite ce-ramic coatings on W18Cr4V steel is studied. The results show that structure of Al O/ NiCrAl composite ceramic lay-er sprayed by plasma is lamellar in shape, the face layer consists of a - AL2O3 and y - AL2O3. There are a mechanicalcombination interface and a very large composition gradient between AL2O3; and NiCtAl, and between NiCrAl and ma-trix. There is a unitary a - AL2O3, columnar crystal in the face coatings cladded by laser. There is a obvious interfacereaction between AL2O3, and NiCrAl, and the interface phase becomes more after cladded by laser. A new interfacephase appears in the boundary between NiCrAl and matrix also. There is a metallurgical combination interface and alittle composition gradient between AL2Oand NiCrAl and between NiCrAl and matrix. The mediate alloy NiCrAlacts as a role of releasing stress and preventing coating from cracking
