Effects of Synthesis Method on Microstructure and Infrared Radiant Characteristics of Cordierite

Abstract: Cordierite powders were prepared by liquid and solid methods respectively‚and infrared rediant characteristics of the powders were measured.The microstructure were investigated by XRD‚SEM and TG-DTA.The results show that infrared emissivities of Cordierite powders synthesized respectively by two methods exceed 0.84.Moreover‚the powders synthesized by liquid method exhibits higher infrared emissivities than those of powder synthesized by solid method‚which can be attributed to the influence of powder morphology on infrared rediant properties.
