Abstract: Reacted - sintering mechanisms of ZTM composites prepared by in situ reacted - sintering technology are systematically studied through the detemmination of real density , shrinkage, relative density of specimens as well as XRD analysis . The result shows that ZrSi04 and non - crystalline matter whose content increases with temperature going up , however , mullite is formed at 1420℃. ZrSi04, decomposition and mullite formation have certain interval . The chemical reaction proceeds rapidly at 1420℃ -1480℃ and is unfavorable to densification. The sintering properties of specimens can be improved by staged reaction sintering temperature.
