Abstract: In this paper‚three various routes improving thermal shock resistance of zirconia materials were discussed in terms of their expansion behaviours and phase transformation．Special attention was paid to the improvement of thermal shock resistance by phase transformation‚and the corresponding experimental results were presented．All these routes were not at the expense of the densities of the materials‚which probably suggested a tendency for high temperature materials．
