Abstract: The process of coating cemented carbide powders with Al₂O₃ ceramic using Sol－Gel method was studied in this paper．The surface processing of matrix powders‚the requirements of sols in coating powder method and the process of coating cemented carbide powders with Al₂O₃ sols were emphatically explored．The gelling mechanisms of Al₂O₃ sols when some cemented carbide powders were added and the coating powder mechanisms were analysed．It was thought that the influence of the cemented carbide powders to the ion－atmosphere of the sol particles to be the key factor of whether the sol becoming gel or not．The coating powder mechanisms were that the cemented carbide powders absorb the sol particles by physical adcorption and chemical adsorption．
