Abstract: To solve the problem of connected pores in ceramic coatings, both composite and gradient materials were applied to ceramic coatings .Ni/Al -13wt %TiO2/Al2O3 gradient composite ceramic was prepared on Q235 steel by plasma spraying .The corrosion behavior in boiling 5 %HCl solution of samples with this coating was investigated .It was shown that the connected porosity in Ni/Al -13wt %TiO2/Al2O3 gradient composite ceramic coating was much lower than that in Al2O3 ceramic coating .The corrosion resistance of the samples with Ni/Al -13wt %TiO2/Al2O3 gradient composite ceramic coating was significantly enhanced. No bulge was observed in this coating even after 14 days corrosion .

Keywords: gradient coating, composite ceramic coating, corrosion behavior, plasma spraying
